Seven Lions Advance Onto NCAA Championship Finals on Saturday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – After two days of competition, the TCNJ Women's Track and Field team saw seven student-athletes advance onto Championship Saturday at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships meet.

The Lions saw a trio of stellar races during the first day of the Prelims round in the NCAA Championships on Thursday, as the blue and gold advanced all seven of their student-athletes onto the respective event finals on Saturday.

Newly crowned as the USTFCCCA Metro Region Track Athlete of the Year, TCNJ superstar Eliza Bruncaj qualified on time in the 400m hurdles after running a new personal-best time of 1:00.15 to place fifth overall in the preliminary round. The sophomore was just beaten out for the automatic qualifier in her heat by under two-tenths of a second.

The first of two stellar relays, the 4x100 quartet of Ashlyn MacLure, Maria Grill, Victoria Purritano and Valandra Riggins qualified on time by clinching the eighth and final spot with a combined time of 47.06.

Following suit, the 4x400 Relay group of Megan Gasnick, Bruncaj, Allison Uhl and Grill also clutched out an eighth spot finish to advance onto Saturday's event finals after running a 3:47.85 relay time.

Also competing in the 400 meter dash on Friday, Grill finished 18th in the prelims for the 400 meter dash after clocking a 57.36.

UP NEXT
Bruncaj is set to compete at approximately 3:25 PM for the event finals, while the 4x100 and 4x400 relay's finals will take place at 1:15 and 5 PM, respectively, on Saturday.
