2/4/2024 4:53:00 PM

The TCNJ men's track and field team had a busy weekend all over the northeast, showing up and showing out wherever they stepped foot on the track. The Lions had athletes competing at the NYU DIII Invitational (New York, N.Y.)  on Friday, the Plex Shootout (Reading PA.) on Saturday along with the Bomber Invitational (Ithaca N.Y.) that finished up on Sunday.

NYU DIII INVITATIONAL (NEW YORK, N.Y.):
  • Freshman Jack Attali broke the school record once again in the 200-meter run with a time of 21.84, breaking the previous record from 2002 of 21.97. Attali also won the 60-meter hurdles after crossing the finish line in 8.15 seconds.
  • Brandon Chen was the only other event winner for the men on Friday, taking first in the 3000-meter run with a personal best time of 8:32.47.
  • Ray Schmitt and Justin Gomez captured second and fourth respectively in the 60-meter dash after recording times of 6.94 and 6.97. Gomez also trailed Attali in the 200-meter run, picking up third with a time of 22.42.
  • The throwers have been great lately, including Steve Daramola and Luke Schrank-Garcia who were the top TCNJ throwers on Friday. Daramola took third in the shot put, throwing to 14.57 meters and Schrank Garcia finished fourth in the weight throw after a mark of 14.16 meters.

PLEX SHOOTOUT (READING, PA.):
  • The Blue & Gold sent five runners from the men's side to run the 5000-meter run on Saturday. Two out of the five were top-five for the event.
  • Brian Micco finished third at Alvernia after completing his 5000-meter run in 15:47.54.
  • Trailing just a few seconds behind Micco was freshman Evan Melito, who took fourth after crossing at 15:56.

BOMBER INVITATIONAL (ITHACA N.Y.):
  • Jayvee Dumas was the lone representative for the men's team to compete at Ithaca over the weekend for the Heptathlon. He built off a first-place finish in the pole vault and second in the 60-meter hurdles to take third place in the Heptathlon with a total score of 4325.
