EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ men's track and field team concluded a stellar weekend of competition while hosting the annual TCNJ Invitational at the TCNJ Track and Field Complex from Thursday to Saturday.
TOP-FIVE TIMES
- Senior Ray Schmitt blew past the field in the 100m dash finals, winning the final heat with a stellar time of 10.68 seconds. Finishing in second for the finals was fellow senior Justin Gomez, who dashed through the finish at 11.02 seconds.
- Freshman Nate Adams had a standout weekend competing in the hurdles after winning the finals heat of the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.08 seconds. The freshman also followed up with a runner-up finish in the 400m hurdles after clocking a new personal best time of 56.70.
- In the 400m dash, freshman Lucas Lattimer earned fourth place after crossing through the finish at 51.47 seconds.
- The 800m saw a trio of Lions secure top-five races in the event. Sophomore Kevin Matthews used a big kick in the final stretch of his race to claim a new lifetime best time of 2:00.37 for second place overall. Fellow sophomore Roman Fabbricatore was just one-hundredths of a second behind Matthews, finishing third with a time of 2:00.38. Rounding out the trio of top-five finishers was junior Michael Rodriguez, who crossed in fourth with his time of 2:00.43.
- In the 1500m, junior Matthew Granizo crossed the line in fourth place with his time of 4:10.65. Finishing right behind him was senior Brian Micco, who clocked a new personal record time of 4:10.84 to place fifth.
- Closing out the meet, the 4x400 meter relay A-team recorded the fastest time of 3:30.72.
STANDOUTS ON THE FIELD
- In the shot put, freshman Christian Farhat took third place with his top throw of 14.16m (46-5.50). Also placing among the top-five was junior Steve Daramola with his best mark of 13.85m (45-5.25).
- Sophomore Jayvee Dumas placed third in the pole vault after clearing his top height of 4.30m (14-1.25). Freshman Tyler DeMarco earned fifth after clearing 4.00m (13-1.50).
- The hammer throw had junior Luke Schrank Garcia finishing fourth after launching a personal-best toss of 47.35m (155-4) to lead the Lions.
- Sophomore Vincent Rizzi placed fifth in the triple jump with his best leap traveling 11.97m (39-3.25).
UP NEXT
The Lions continues their outdoor season next weekend by competing at the Widener Invitational from Friday to Saturday. Friday's start time is set for 3 PM, while Saturday will be an early 9 AM start to the competition.
