All-NJAC Women's Tennis
PITMAN, N.J. – TCNJ cleaned up on the All-NJAC Team released Thursday by the league office, claiming a pair of major awards and putting all six of their starters on either the all-conference singles or doubles roster.
Aira Abalos was named Player of the Year and
Zoey Albert was tabbed Rookie of the Year. Both earned all-conference honors in singles and doubles, as
Chase Eisenberg and
Prisha Priyadarshini.
Marcella Warner and
Gabriella Robinson received All-NJAC doubles recognition alongside their respective partners in Abalos and Priyadarshini.
Abalos collects her first Player of the Year nod after going 5-0 in both singles and doubles in NJAC play. She passed her toughest test of the season with a 3-6, 6-1, 10-8 defeat of Stockton's Sophia Pasquale on April 6.
Now a three-time All-NJAC honoree in singles, Abalos grabbed her second career all-conference doubles nod. She and Warner are a perfect 17-0 in dual matches this season, and conceded only two total games across five No. 2 doubles tilts in NJAC play.
Albert joins Abalos and Eisenberg as Rookie of the Year honorees from TCNJ following a remarkable freshman campaign playing No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles with Eisenberg. The tall right-hander surrendered a mere three games in five conference singles matches and holds an overall record of 38-9 this season. She is a three-time NJAC Rookie of the Week.
The lone senior on a rookie-laden squad, Eisenberg is now a three-time All-NJAC performer in doubles and a two-time honoree in singles. She and Albert have combined for a 21-6 overall record this season, including a run to the semifinals of the ITA Northeast Regional and an unblemished 5-0 mark in NJAC play.
Eisenberg lost three total games at No. 3 singles in NJAC competition and is a robust 15-2 in dual matches.
Priyadarshini has accumulated a 37-7 overall record as a first-year, playing No. 4 in singles and No. 3 in doubles. The one-time NJAC Rookie of the Week is 16-1 in singles duals, and four of her five NJAC matches ended in double bagels.
Priyadarshini and Robinson are a sparkling 16-1 in doubles in dual matches, currently riding a 14-match winning streak together. They won three conference matches by 8-0 shutout, and the other two were 8-1 decisions.
Warner is in the midst of a nearly unblemished rookie campaign, sporting an overall record of 39-3 while playing No. 5 singles and No. 2 doubles with Abalos. She is 17-0 in both singles and doubles in dual matches, which includes three-set singles victories against F&M, NYU, and Goldey-Beacom.
Twelve of Warner's doubles matches with Abalos were 8-2 or more lopsided, and the duo defeated the No. 2 teams from nationally ranked programs in RPI and NYU.
The Lions and their six all-conference honorees will shoot for their 41
st consecutive NJAC championship on Saturday against Stockton.
