MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Highlighted by an All-American finisher, the TCNJ men's outdoor track and field team rounded out the 2024 Spring season at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday.
The Lions were represented by a pair of throwers, with junior
Alexander Bogues competing in the javelin throw and fellow junior
Steve Daramola in the discus throw.
In a successful national debut, Bogues captured All-American status for the first time in his collegiate career after placing 14th overall with his best toss traveling 58.88m (193-2) for second-team honors. The junior became the program's first All-American in the javelin since Mike Polulak finished as the runner-up in the event back in 2002.
Bogues, who nabbed the 22nd and final qualifying spot with his best heave of the season at the IC4A/ECAC Championships and proceeded to outperform his seeding by eight places to nab one of the 16 All-America slots at nationals.
Also making his national debut in the discus, Daramola was unable to record a mark as each of his three throws were fouls. His personal best of 51.62 meters, set at the AARTFC Championships, was good for 17 th nationally and second in the Metro Region; only six throwers outperformed that mark on Thursday.
