EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ women's tennis team continued its fall campaign with a solid performance at the weekend-long Lions Tournament, dominating Ithaca on Friday before matching up with perennial power NYU on Sunday.
Shruti Mannan was the lone Lion to go unbeaten for the weekend, finishing a perfect 4-0.
The Lions were a robust 10-2 against the Bombers, going 5-1 in both doubles and singles. Only one of the doubles tilts was tighter than 6-2, a 6-4 victory for rookies Mannan and
Anusha Perinkolam.
Zoey Albert teamed with first-year
Gabrielle Brideau for a 6-2 win, while
Aira Abalos paired with another rookie in
Sonya Pereldik for a 6-1 rout. The first-year duo of
Elizabeth Ring and
Claire Hardy won 6-0, while
Gabriella Robinson and rookie
Sara Suri were 6-1 doubles winners.
Albert, Mannan, and Perinkolam all won in straight sets in singles, while Pereldik and Brideau each needed to dig deep and claim a third-set super breaker.
Mannan and Perinkolam joined Suri and Hardy as TCNJ's doubles winners on Sunday, the latter pulling out a 7-5 decision.
Albert won a third-set super breaker in singles, and Mannan was a straight-sets winner.
