EWING, N.J. – In their seasoning-opening home meet against Kean, the TCNJ women's swimming and diving team suffered a 169-92 loss at the hands of the Cougars.
However,
Beth Evaldi achieved a regional-qualifying score in the 1-meter dive: 262.95. TCNJ divers competed against each other in two events – 1-meter and 3-meter – with Evaldi scoring highest in both (262.95, 261.45) and narrowly missing a regional qualifier in the 3-meter.
Bridget Cleveland's performance in the 200 Free provided another nice silver lining for the Lions on Saturday. She logged a time of 2:00.77, which was about half of a second ahead of Kean's Sydney Stemley.
Lilliana Kuball and
Shaye Bundonis came close to individual victories in the 100 Free and 100 Fly respectively, but both swimmers finished just a few tenths of a second behind the eventual winners from Kean.
Next up for the Lions is the Monmouth Invitational next Saturday.
