Women's Track & Field Makes Strides at Widener Final Qualifier

CHESTER, Pa. - The TCNJ women's track and field competed at the Widener Final Qualifier Monday afternoon in their final tune-up before this week's AARTFC Championship.
 
ON THE TRACK
  • Mackenzie Burke put herself in the thick of NCAA qualification with a big PR in the 400 hurdles, crossing the line in 1:02.06 to move up 15 spots to 19th on the national performance list
  • TCNJ's 4x400 team of Rukky Daranijo, Burke, Brenna Omert and Kelly O'Grady moved up two spots to 21st in the national rankings, crossing the line in 3:48.27
  • Cameron Ruffini narrowly missed out on running a sub-one minute 400, finishing in 13th with a time of 1:00.32
  • Samantha Magin finished 13th in the 200 with her time of 26.02. Petra Doherty was also a top-20 finisher in the event, crossing the line in 26.35
IN THE FIELD
  • Kerri McCarthy and Jessica Reilly took second and third in the hammer throw. McCarthy set her season-best mark of 52.10 meters on her fifth attempt to finish second while Reilly cleared 49.95 meters on her opening throw to take the bronze
  • Allison Lavin saved her best for last in the shot put, setting her best mark of 11.80 meters on her final attempt to finish seventh

  • The Lions are back in action Wednesday, May 14 to compete at the AARTFC Championship.
