EWING, N.J. - TCNJ men's track & field's
Maxim Rychkov is headed to historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon to compete in the USA Track & Field U20 Championships this week. This marks the second consecutive year TCNJ has had a runner qualify for the national meet –
Jack Attali represented the Lions in the 110-meter hurdles a season ago – with Rychkov set to compete in both the 100 and 200-meter sprints.
The freshman phenom will take on a loaded field featuring runners from all divisions, with a top-6 finish making him eligible for the USA U20 World team that is set to compete at the World U20 Championships in Tokyo, Japan this September.
Â
Rychkov was untouchable in his first season in Ewing, sweeping the NJAC's Outstanding Track Athlete awards in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Already a five-time All-American, the freshman ranks in the top 20 in Division III in the 100 (10.45s) and is one of just nine student-athletes in DIII to run a sub 21-second 200 (20.98) – both times are the fastest in the Metro Region. Among DIII freshmen, Rychkov ranks third in the 100 and second in the 200.
Â
Thursday's 100 prelims are scheduled for 4:21 p.m. while the 200 prelims will take place Friday at 4:20 p.m. The complete schedule for the meet can be found
