EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ women's cross country team finished second out of seven teams on Friday evening at the Herb Lorenz Invitational.
The top 5 Lions runners finished in places 4 through 8, with freshman
Mia Zicchinella leading the way with her time of 21:21.00. In 5
th was
Olivia Sullivan (21:21.20), who improved on her time from last year in this 5-kilometer race by almost 20 seconds.
Noelle Falzone finished in 6
th, running the course in 21:21.30 – a pace that was almost 7 seconds faster from her time last year in this race. Across the finish line next were
Taylor Rooney (21:24.70) in 7
th and
Lilla Porter (21:27.70) in 8
th, with
Ella Feehan (12
th, 22:07.00) and
Kristen Smerdon (13
th, 22:07.30) making up the remainder of TCNJ's top 7 finishers.
Anna Marino was also in action for the Lions; she finished 18
th in 22:55.70.
It was a tight battle between TCNJ and Montclair State, but the Red Hawks claimed the team win. It was just the slimmest of margins between the two teams, as the Red Hawks (29 points) finished a single point better than the Lions (30 points).
The next meet for the Lions will take place on September 20 at the Osprey Open in Galloway, New Jersey.
