GLASSBORO, N.J. – On Saturday, the TCNJ Women's swimming and diving team wrapped up a two-day dual meet against Rowan.
Lilliana Kuball got the Lions a win on the second day of competition, while
Hannah Simons and
Jenna Ringel highlighted the diving team's efforts.
DIVING
Beth Evaldi led the way again for the Lions, posting a 271.73 in the 1-meter and a 284.40 in the 3-meter.
Hannah Simons punched her ticket to regionals by qualifying for the second time on 1-meter. She achieved a 255.45 in six dives, and she also got a 244.80 in the 3-meter.
Jenna Ringel herself qualified for the first time on both 1-meter (241.58) and 3-meter (266.25), meaning that she just needs one more qualification to book her trip to regionals.
DAY 1 SWIMMING
On day one, the Lions logged six second-place finishes against the Profs. In the 1000 free,
Katie Mazzacco (11:11.51) and
Bella Patti (11:21.45) placed in second and third respectively, followed up by
Shaye Bundonis's second-place effort on the 100 back. After that,
Lilliana Kuball (2:34.05) and
Katelyn Gaulin (2:37.70) placed second and third respectively in the 200 breast.
Bridget Cleveland came extremely close to claiming a win for the Lions on the first day, but she finished just one tenth of a second behind in the 200 free. Cleveland posted a 2:00.49 in the event, setting a new personal best.
Finally, Bundonis in the 100 fly (1:01.51) and Kuball in the 200 IM (2:17.40) rounded out the Lions' runner-up finishes on the first day of the weekend.
DAY 2 SWIMMING
The Lions' lone win on the weekend came via
Lilliana Kuball on the 100 free, where she posted a 55.95. On top of Kuball's win, the Lions logged two second-place finishes and five third-place finishes.
The second day's individual events began with the 500 free, where
Katie Mazzacco (5:28.71) and
Bella Patti (5:31.79) placed in second and third respectively.
Shaye Bundonis placed third in the 200 back (2:13.54), followed up by
Katelyn Gaulin's third-place performance in the 100 breast (1:12.91). Mazzacco then picked up third-place finish in the 200 fly (2:21.66), and
Sarah Mandy rounded out the individual top-three finishers for the Lions with third place in the 400 IM (4:56.24).
The Lions concluded the weekend on a high note, as their A relay (
Mary Kate Owens,
Katie Mazzacco,
Emma Zakutney,
Bridget Cleveland) posted a 1:44.41 in the 200 free relay in the last event of the two-day meet.
TCNJ will be back in action next Saturday, January 24, when they face off against Montclair State on senior day.
