ITHACA, N.Y. – On Saturday afternoon, the TCNJ track and field squads were in action in New York against Ithaca, Cortland, and Oneonta. The Lions picked up numerous regional-qualifying times en route to a second-place team finish in the field of four.
ON THE TRACK
- Ava Biemuller paced the Lions in the mile, finishing fifth in 5:23.15. Later, Biemuller finished first in the 3000m (10:43.99), with Teagan Walker (5th, 10:54.20) joining her in the top five.
- In the 60m hurdles, Sarah Scepkowski (3rd, 9.28), Mackenzie Burke (4th, 9.36), and Lia Malave (6th, 9.40) all surpassed the regional-qualifying times.
- Rukky Daranijo finished runner-up in the 400m (1:00.54).
- In the 800m, Kelly O'Grady (1st, 2:19.29) and Brenna Omert (3rd, 2:19.81) posted two more regional-qualifying times.
- In the 200m, Kelsey Thomas also qualified for regionals with her first-place time of 26.19. Cameron Ruffini finished in third in that event with a time of 26.69.
- The Lions took another regional qualifying time in the 4x400, as the team of Ruffini, O'Grady, Thomas, and Daranijo combined for a first-place finish in 4:02.72.
IN THE FIELD
- Allison Lavin placed third in the weight throw (14.86) and fifth in the shot put (11.59).
- Emerson Levins took fifth place in the pole vault (3.02).
- Sarah Scepkowski led the way for the Lions in the long jump, finishing sixth in the event (5.02).
- In the triple jump, Lia Malave (3rd, 10.54), Hannah Hafer (5th, 10.19), and Erin McGauley (6th, 10.16) took three out of the top six spots for TCNJ.
The Lions will now get ready for next weekend's two-day Liberty Open in Lynchburg, Virginia.
