LYNCHBURG, Va. – To beat the over two feet of forecasted snow in central Virginia, the Lions got Liberty Open done in one day instead of the originally scheduled two. The Lions posted three DIII top-ten times to make it an impressive showing for the TCNJ women's track squad.
The three DIII top-ten times came in the 200m, and 800m, and the 4x400m. In the 200, Garcia-Beltran came close to claiming another program record. She posted a time of 24.65, which is the second-best time in program history. Her time is also currently the fifth fastest mark in Division III.
The second top-ten time came via
Kelly O'Grady in the 800m. She posted a time of 2:16.60, which is currently the seventh-best mark in Division III.
Brenna Omert joined O'Grady in the top ten of that event, finishing in 9th with a time of 2:21.54.
The third top-ten time came in the 4x400, where the relay of
Kelsey Thomas, O'Grady, Omert, and
Rukky Daranijo placed 9
th in 3:55.52. The time they posted is currently sixth-fastest in DIII. Daranijo also paced the Lions in the 400m, finishing in just over a minute. She posted a season-best time of 1:00.16, while
Brenna Casais set a PR with a time of 1:02.36.
Finally,
Alex Grivas achieved a new PR time in the 1000m, as she posted a 3:05.23 en route to a 14
th-place finish. She finished ahead of every other Division-III runner in the race.
TCNJ track and field will be in action next tomorrow, January 24, at the Hound Classic in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
