KINGS POINT, N.Y. – As their last tune-up before the NJAC Championships in mid-February, the TCNJ women's swim and dive team traveled to New York for the USMMA Memorial Invite.
Shaye Bundonis and
Bella Patti got the individual events off on a high note for the Lions, as they went 1-2 in the 500 freestyle. Bundonis, in her first time ever swimming the 500 freestyle in her collegiate career, posted a 5:33.81 en route to a first-place finish. Patti got second place with a time of 5:35.80. Later in the meet. Bundonis also finished in second place in the 100 butterfly (1:01.43).
In the second individual event of the day,
Bridget Cleveland's finished runner-up in the 100 freestyle (55.60). In the next event,
Lilliana Kuball also got another top-three finish for TCNJ in the 100 backstroke, placing in third (1:05.12).
Katie Mazzacco then recorded a third-place finish in the 200 IM (2:21.27), the first of her two top-three finishes for the day. She would also place second in the 200 butterfly later in the meet (2:24.86). In the last individual event,
Kate Barone took another top-three performance home for TCNJ; she placed third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:42.63. To end the day, Mazzacco, Cleveland,
Sarah Mandy, and Kuball combined for a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:45.76).
In diving,
Beth Evaldi recorded a pair of second-place performances. On the 1-meter, she recorded a team-best 235.85, and was joined in the top five by fellow senior
Melody Lin (227.00). In the 3-meter, it was Evaldi and Lin in second and fourth place again; Evaldi posted a 258.60 while Lin got a 209.10. This time,
Jenna Ringel also placed in the top five, earning fifth place with a 192.15.
TCNJ now looks ahead to the NJAC Championships, which will take place from February 12 to February 15 in Hampton, Virginia.
