HAMPTON, Va. – On the third day of the NJAC Championships, the TCNJ women's swimmers stayed solid to maintain their sixth-place position in the championship standings.
Mary Kate Owens,
Katie Mazzacco,
Lilliana Kuball, and
Bridget Cleveland started off in the 200 freestyle relay, placing fifth with a time of 1:38.89. Cleveland's anchor split of 24.30 was the fastest of the team, and helped secure a top-five finish by about half of a second.
Sarah Mandy paced TCNJ in the 400 IM, finishing in 14
th (4:46.77). In that event,
Emma Zakutney posted a lifetime best mark of 4:57.06.
In the 100 butterfly,
Shaye Bundonis achieved a lifetime-best time of 59.56. Bundonis would post another personal record in the 100 back, where she placed 11
th with a time of 59.55.
Shayna Jaroslaw also posted a lifetime-best time in the 100 back (1:02.19).
Next, the 200 freestyle was a particular bright spot for the Lions.
Bridget Cleveland swam in the A final and went 1:56.25, posting the fastest mark of her career. Four other Lions posted lifetime bests in the event: Mazzacco (1:57.10), Owens (1:59.81),
Emma Vindigni (2:01.91), and
Caroline Gemelli (2:07.38). Finally,
Lilliana Kuball put in a solid swim for the Lions, placing 11
th with a time of 1:09.19.
As the impressive times keep coming for the Lions, TCNJ now looks ahead to the final day of NJACs.
