Women's T&F Sets National 4x200 Record on Day One of NJAC Indoor Championships

2/21/2026 11:17:00 PM

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – It was an immense start to the NJAC Indoor Championships for TCNJ's women's track and field team, as they took down a national record in the 4x200m relay.

NEW NATIONAL RECORD

Lucia Garcia-Beltran, Kelsey Thomas, Petra Doherty, and Rukky Daranijo became the first women's team ever to post a sub-1:40 time indoors in the 4x200. They won gold with a lightning-fast time of 1:39.69, breaking the previous record time of 1:42.04 set by the University of Southern Maine last year.

OTHER MEDAL WINNERS
  • Just a week removed from setting a new program record, Allison Lavin claimed conference gold in the shot put. Lavin recorded a throw of 12.55m to claim her first career conference championship.
  • Lia Malave placed third in the long jump, leaping 5.34m.
  • Sarah Scepkowski placed second in the pentathlon, collecting 3358 points.

OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES
  • Garcia-Beltran finished first in the prelims of the 60m (7.56), setting herself up nicely for the finals next Friday.
  • Ella Daly posted a new PR in the 5000m, where she finished in fourth place (18:31.99). Teagan Walker joined Daly in the top five of the event (5th, 18:36.29).
UP NEXT

TCNJ currently sits in second place with 62 points, just five points behind first-place Stockton. The second and final day of the NJAC Indoor Championships was originally scheduled for Sunday, but it has been pushed back to February 27 due to the forecasted blizzard.
