Garcia-Beltran Topples 22-Year-Old NJAC Record in Busy Weekend for Women's T&F

2/8/2026 3:43:00 PM

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. & BOSTON, Mass. – The TCNJ men's track and field team wrapped up a busy weekend, with one part of the team in Staten Island and another at the ECAC/IC4A Championships. Lucia Garcia-Beltran claimed two more records, including an NJAC record which had previously stood for over 20 years.

ECAC/IC4A CHAMPIONSHIPS

The first of Garcia-Beltran's record setting runs came in the 60m, where she posted a blistering time of 7.48. That broke the previous NJAC record of 7.54, which was set by NJCU's Diana Lawson all the way back in 2004. In Division III, Garcia-Beltran's mark is currently the fastest this year and the fifth-fastest all-time.

Not satisfied with just one program record for the weekend, Garcia-Beltran claimed another one in the 200m. She reset the record once on the first day, clocking a 24.37 (then the fifth-best time in DIII), to break Miriam Khan's previous program record set in 2011 of 24.52. The following day in the finals, she lowered that record again to 24.30—posting the tenth fastest all-time DIII mark.

The great performances for the Lions didn't stop there, however, thanks in large part to Kelly O'Grady, Alex Grivas, and Rukky Daranijo. O'Grady and Grivas ran in the 800m, where they posted season-best times of 2:15.33 and 2:17.82 respectively. O'Grady's mark is currently a top-25 DIII time, while Grivas's time is inside of the top 60. Daranijo represented the Lions in the 400m, posting a season-best time of 58.93.

The Lions ended the meet with a bang in the 4x400m, as Kelsey Thomas, O'Grady, Brenna Omert, and Rukky Daranijo posted the fifth-fastest DIII time so far this year: 3:50.70.

BIG APPLE INVITATIONAL

Several Lions also competed in Saturday's Big Apple Invitational. Ava Biemuller paced the Lions in the mile, placing 8th (5:17.46). Breanna Casais (15th, 1:01.24) and Casey Noonan (19th, 1:01.76) were in action in the 400m, while Taylor Rooney (16th, 2:32.53) led the Lions in the 800m.

In the field, freshman Emily Donise placed sixth in the high jump (1.50m), and Isabella Mraz followed up with a solid fourth-place performance in the pole vault (2.80m). The solid day continued for the Lions in the long jump, as the trio of Lia Malave (5th, 5.21m), Larissa Itondo (7th, 4.96m), and Erin McGauley (10th, 4.77) all claimed a spot in the top-ten. Finally, Allison Lavin led the way for the throwers, placing third in both the shot put (11.62m) and the weight throw (14.99m).

FASTRACK NATIONAL INVITE

To begin the busy weekend, the freshman duo of Alissa Stumpf and Mia Zicchinella ran in the 5K at the Fastrack National Invite on Friday. Stumpf (20:49.53) and Zicchinella (21:21.78) placed 15th and 16th respectively.
