NEW ORLEANS, La. – For the first time in program history, a TCNJ athlete has been named a USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week during the indoor season. Off the back of another record-setting performance, TCNJ's star sprinter
Lucia Garcia-Beltran earned the honor today.
At the ECAC/IC4A Championships over the weekend, Garcia-Beltran reset multiple records. She started off in the 60m, where she lowered her own program record to 7.48—currently the best time in DIII this year. As a result, Garcia-Beltran broke a 22-year-old NJAC record which had previously stood at 7.54.
Garcia-Beltran also claimed TCNJ's 200m record, clocking a 24.37 on the first day of the meet. That time broke Miriam Khan's previous program record of 24.52 set back in 2011. Garcia-Beltran improved upon her record on the second day of the meet, posting a 24.30—fourth-best in DIII this year and tenth-best in DIII all-time.
