BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
Lucia Garcia-Beltran kicked off the NCAA Indoor Championships for the TCNJ women's track and field team, making the finals of both the 60-meter and 200-meter.
In the 60, Garcia-Beltran posted a 7.504 — the fourth-fastest time in the field. Only a few thousandths of a second separate first place from fifth, however, so there is no clear favorite going into the Saturday's final heat. In the 200, Garcia-Beltran punched her ticket for Saturday with a time of 24.29 (6
th), lowering her own program in the record for the event which previously stood at 24.56 from the regional championship meet this year.
Garcia-Beltran will compete for national glory tomorrow.
Allison Lavin will also make her nationals debut in the shot put at 3:00 PM.
