BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
Lucia Garcia-Beltran and
Allison Lavin, the two representatives of the TCNJ women's track and field team at this year's NCAA Indoor Championships, finished up at an excellent weekend for the Lions on Saturday.
Garcia-Beltran notched two top-five finishes in championship finals, putting a bow on her historic indoor season. She came just a few thousandths of a second from a national championship in the 60m, placing second with a time of 7.54 (just 0.02 behind the winner). She then came back a few hours later and placed fifth in the 200m (24.34). Thanks to those two excellent performances, the team finished tied for 17
th with 12 total points.
Allison Lavin also got her first taste of nationals on the second and final day. Thanks to her program record-setting toss earlier in the year, she competed on the national stage in the shot put. Lavin placed 19
th overall with a best throw of 12.10m.
With an excellent indoor season now behind them, Lions now look forward to a well-deserved week off before getting started with their outdoor season in two weeks.
