Lavin Breaks Program Record, Burke Sets New Meet Record in Women's T&F's Outdoor Season Opener

ATLANTA, Ga. & CHESTER, Pa. – This weekend, the TCNJ women's track and field team began their outdoor season in two venues. Allison Lavin broke the program outdoor shot put record at Emory, while Mackenzie Burket set a new meet record at Widener to highlight the action.
 
EMORY THRILLS IN THE HILLS – FIELD
  • With her last throw in the shot put, Allison Lavin logged a 13.16m to take down the program record which had stood since 1991. Lavin now owns the school shot put records for both indoor and outdoor. She also placed fifth in the hammer throw thanks to another excellent last attempt that flew 45.53 meters.
  • Sarah Scepkowski racked up 4,166 points in the heptathlon, placing seventh in a talented field of 17 competitors.
  • Lia Malave placed 16th in the long jump (5.02m), while Erin McGauley placed 29th (4.41m). McGauley also competed in the triple jump (20th, 10.32m).
 
EMORY THRILLS IN THE HILLS – TRACK
  • Casey Noonan posted a top-ten finish in the 400m hurdles, placing 7th in 1:05.89. Fellow freshman Hailie Zimmerman also ran in the event, placing 15th (1:12.14).
  • Noonan, Cameron Ruffini, Samantha Magin, and Breanna Casais ran in the 4x400m for TCNJ, and they placed first in their heat and fifth overall (3:57.54).
  • Lucia Garcia-Beltran placed second in the 100m, posting a time of 11.75 which was just 0.01 slower than first place.
  • Garcia-Beltran and Kelsey Thomas each posted top-ten finishes in the 200m. Garcia-Beltran placed fourth (24.55) while Thomas placed 10th (25.24).
  • Alongside Garcia-Beltran and Thomas, Petra Doherty and Rukky Daranijo ran to a third-place finish in the 4x100m (47.92). Daranijo also paced the Lions in the 400m with a ninth-place run (58.13).
  • Kelly O'Grady finished third in the 800m in 2:15.09. Alex Grivas also ran in the event, placing 11th (2:19.85).
 
DANNY CURRAN INVITATIONAL – TRACK
  • Mackenzie Burke broke the meet record in the 400m hurdles, winning the event with a time of 1:03.32. She also topped all DIII runners in the 100m hurdles, placing third overall with a time of 14.81.
  • Teagan Walker paced the Lions in the 5000m, placing 20th out of 73 runners with a personal-best time of 18:09.68. Ella Daly (22nd, 18:14.10) and Alissa Stumpf (49th, 20:12.22) also set new personal bests in the race.
  • Naesha Gadie led the way for the Lions in the 1500m, placing 30th (5:09.60) out of 121 runners.
  • Taylor Rooney placed 50th in the 800m (2:32.78) out of 116 competitors in the event.
 
DANNY CURRAN INVITATIONAL – FIELD
  • Emersen Levins posted a top-ten finish in the pole vault (T10th, 3.05m)
  • Emily Donise placed 13th in the high jump (1.45m).
  • Larissa Itondo (17th, 4.86m) and Gabriella Skrivanek (33rd, 4.47) competed amongst 55 athletes in the long jump.
