Pace, 4x800 Capture Regional Titles, Matthews Posts Historic Time as Men's T&F Powers to Third at Regionals

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Off the back of two regional titles, a program record time, and all-around strong performances, the TCNJ men's track and field team logged a historic 3rd-place finish at the AARTFC Outdoor Championships.
 
Kevin Matthews made program history in the 1500 posting TCNJ's first ever sub-3:50 time in the 1500 and breaking his own program record he set just last week. Phil Pace (5K) and the 4x800 relay both became regional champions to power the Lions to their highest ever regional placement as a team.
 
ON THE TRACK
  • Matthews posted his historic time of 3:49.63 in the 1500, placing second overall less than three tenths of a second behind the winner.
  • Pace's winning run was his first career regional championship. He placed first in the 5K in 14:54.64. Josh Santiago also picked up a point for the Lions with an 8th-place finish (15:14.59).
  • TCNJ's 4x800 gave the Lions another regional title, as David Keefe, Will Evarts, Thomas Blach, and Matthews ran a 7:46.84 en route to a first-place finish.
  • The Lions had two top-ten finishers in the 10K, with Evan Melito placing 5th (32:23.55) and Sean Haggerty placing 9th (32:35.61).
  • In the 4x400, Nate Adams, Lebron Rose, Tyler Seaton, and Noah Traverso placed 6th (3:15.21).
  • Nate Kidwell (9:53.26) and Ryan Segalla (9:59.18) represented the Lions in the steeplechase, finishing 13th and 15th respectively.
  • Peter Fragomeni placed 27th in the 800 (51.15).
 
IN THE FIELD
  • Ryan Mohr led the Lions throwers at the regional meet with a 7th-place showing in the javelin (55.41m).
  • Christian Farhat placed 10th in the hammer (51.35m).
  • Braden Paulmenn placed 10th in the shot put (15.17m) and 15th in the hammer (49.86).
  • Tyler Kadezabek placed 13th in the pole vault, clearing 4.41m.
 
DECATHLON
  • Jayvee Dumas collected 6,112 points to place fourth in the decathlon. He notched a trio of top-three event performances, highlighted by his win in the 110 hurdles (15.22).
