Men's T&F Collects Six Medals, in Second After Day One of NJAC Outdoor Championships

MAHWAH, N.J. – The TCNJ men's track and field team got off to a nice start to this weekend's NJAC Outdoor Championships, picking 80 points to stand at second place behind Rowan. On day one, the Lions notched a pair of gold medals via the distance crew and collected six medals in total.
 
ON THE TRACK
  • TCNJ went 1-2 in the 10K, with Evan Melito claiming gold (32:10.75) and Sean Haggerty claiming silver (32:15.29). Both Lions also qualified for the regional meet with their performances.
  • The Lions went 1-2 again in the steeplechase. Ryan Segalla (9:33.75) placed first and was soon followed by Nate Kidwell (9:43.33) across the finish line in second. The two also qualified for regionals as well.
  • Maxim Rychkov had the best qualifying time in the 100 (10.54), advancing to the final and to the regional meet later this month. He also posted the second-best qualifying time in the 200 (21.31). to make the final of that event.
  • Nate Adams made the final of the 400 hurdles, posting the third-best qualifying time in the field (53.76). He also qualified for the regional meet in the 100 hurdles with a 9th-place performance (15.13).
  • Noah Traverso punched his ticket to a pair of finals, winning his qualifying heat in the 400 (49.53) and 200 (21.68). His 200 time also qualified him for regionals.
 
IN THE FIELD
  • Tyler Kadezabek placed second in the pole vault (4.30m), earning his first career conference title.
  • Braden Paulmenn claimed the bronze in the hammer throw with his mark of 48.48m, and Christian Farhat placed fifth in the event as well (45.34m).
  • In the javelin, Jeremiah Wilson (5th, 53.62m), Ryan Mohr (6th, 53.58m), and Paulmenn (8th, 52.48m) each qualified for the regional meet.
  • Ryan Donnelly led the Lions in the long jump with a 9th-place performance (6.52m).
 
DECATHLON
  • After the first five events of the decathlon, Jayvee Dumas sits in second place with 3,241 points. He placed first in the 100 (11.52) and long jump (6.35m), second in the high jump (1.77m) and 400 (52.26), and fourth in the shot put.
