Men's T&F Concludes NJAC Outdoor Championships, Places Second

MAHWAH, N.J. – The TCNJ men's track and field team completed the second and final day of the NJAC Outdoor Championships, finishing in second place with 213 points. The Lions racked up the bulk of their medals on the track on day two, with Brandon Chen, Nate Adams, Noah Traverso, and Evan Melito ending the weekend as multi-medal winners. In the field, Braden Paulmenn took home a second medal on the second day of competition.
 
ON THE TRACK
  • Maxim Rychkov claimed the 100 gold for a second straight outdoor season, clocking 10.43 en route to the win.
  • Kevin Matthews and Brandon Chen continued the Lions distance runners' strong showing from the previous day, placing first and second respectively in the 1500. Matthews won the gold with a time of 3:54.60, and Chen won the silver with a time of 3:58.40.
  • Chen later won gold in the 5000 (15:05.31) and was joined on the podium by Evan Melito who finished third (15:09.07). Phil Pace, Josh Santiago, Anthony Guarino, and Moksh Patwari took fourth through seventh in the event for TCNJ as well.
  • Noah Traverso placed second in the 400, posting a time of 47.67. He also secured the bronze medal in the 200 (21.26).
  • Nate Adams finished third in the 400 hurdles (52.39), medaling in the event for the second straight outdoor season.
  • Adams added another medal in the 4x400, where he, Victor Akinboboye, Lebron Rose, and Tyler Seaton finished third (3:16.17).
 
IN THE FIELD
  • Braden Paulmenn made the most of his sixth and final throw in the shot put, as he posted a mark of 15.00m and won the event with the attempt. The clutch throw secured the sophomore his first ever NJAC gold medal.
 
DECATHLON
  • Jayvee Dumas became the NJAC decathlon, winning by 146 points over Ramapo's Benjamin Zelasco. On the second day of competition, Dumas finished first in the 110 hurdles and pole vault to leapfrog into the top spot on the podium.
