Women's T&F Finishes Second at NJAC Outdoor Championships

MAHWAH, N.J. – It was a closely contested second day at the NJAC Outdoor Championships between the TCNJ women's track and field team and Rowan, and the Lions were ultimately unable to claim their sixth straight conference crown. TCNJ finished in second place with 207 points, with seven Lions finishing the weekend with multiple medals around their necks.
 
ON THE TRACK
  • Lucia-Garcia Beltran racked up a trio of gold medals on Sunday. Her first came in the 4x100, where she and Mackenzie Burke, Rukky Daranijo, and Kelsey Thomas placed first with a time of 46.83. Garcia-Beltran then secured a gold medal in the 100 (11.86) and the 200 (24.19).
  • Thomas, Burke, Kelly O'Grady, and Brenna Omert combined to win gold in the 4x400, posting a time of 3:54.35 to win by over four full seconds.
  • Thomas, Burke, and O'Grady also won a medal each in an individual event. Thomas earned a silver medal in the 400 (57.53) and Burke got silver as well in the 400 hurdles (1:02.30). O'Grady medaled in the 800 for the second straight outdoor season, winning bronze in 2:14.83.
  • Ella Daly won bronze in the 5000 in 17:52.08.
 
IN THE FIELD
  • Allison Lavin concluded the weekend as a multi-medal winner, taking home the shot put title. She posted a mark of 12.65m with her third attempt to earn her first outdoor championship of her career.
  • After claiming a gold medal on day one, Lia Malave followed it up with a bronze in the triple jump (10.79m).
  • Sarah Scepkowski took home the silver medal in the high jump, clearing 1.61m.
 
HEPTATHLON
  • Scepkowski and Samantha Magin went 1-2 in the heptathlon, with Scepkowski claiming her third straight NJAC outdoor heptathlon gold medal with 3,973 points. For Magin, today marked her second time winning silver in the conference outdoor championship meet.
