Randor, PA… Second-ranked The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team bounced back from its first loss of the season by doubling up host Cabrini College by the score of 18-9 on Thursday behind six goals from senior Karen Doane (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan).
The win put the Lions at 10-1 on the season.
The Cavaliers challenged the Lions early leading on three separate occasions with their final lead coming at 5-4. TCNJ then ripped off six straight scored to grab the lead and eventually led 12-6 at the half.
The Lions protected that lead in the final 30 minutes to each the victory.
Doane picked up six goals giving her 45 on the season marking the third time in her standout career she has eclipsed the 40-goal mark. She also moved into eighth place on the program's all-time list with 175 goals and points with 220.
Freshman Alison Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) added four goals and sophomore Angela Wilmer (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) and freshman Leigh Mitchell (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) each finished with three goals.
Senior Caitlin Gregory (Winslow, NJ/Eastern) collected six saves to pick up her 10th victory of the season.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, April 19 taking on sixth-ranked Washington & Lee University in a 4 p.m. start. That game will be played at Ursinus College.
