Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey's women's swimming and diving team hosted New York University in a dual meet on Saturday in TCNJ's Aquatic Center. NYU's women beat TCNJ by just four points, 152-148. NYU's women's team is now 8-1 and the Lion women are now 6-2 on the season.
The women's meet was decided in the final relay of the day as despite TCNJ's win in the 400 freestyle race scoring 11 points, the Lions were unable to catch the Violets.
TCNJ would collect the win in the 200 medley relay to open the meet as rookie

Margaret Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East), and Hofer posted the winning time in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:39.17, only to watch the team score slip out of the Lions' grasp.
In the 200 freestyle race, Molloy posted the winning time of 1:57.52. Molloy would also win the 100 freestyle race for the Lions in 54.73, while Hofer would pickup second in the event in 55.50. Varvaro added a second for the Lions in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.98 and a third in the 200 backstroke in 2:18.74. Freshman
Melissa Hessler (Palmyra, NJ/Palmyra) was the team's top scorer in the 1,000 freestyle as she posted a time of 10:55.57 to take fourth. She added a fourth for the team in the 200 butterfly race in 2:16.76.
Morgan won the 100 breaststroke event in 1:08.37 and the 200 breaststroke in 5:12.22. Pierce captured the first in the 50 freestyle in 24.78 and Hofer took home second in 24.86. Pierce finished in second as well in the 100 butterfly event with a time of 59.01, while junior
Brittany Collyer (Forked River, NJ/Lacey Township) took home third in the 200 individual medley in 2:17.45.
In the diving events, TCNJ's sophomore
Amanda Obst (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Regional) and freshman
Emily Ingram (Easthampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) had a first and second place finish on the one meter board. Obst scored a 240.60 to win the event, while Ingram scored a 228.60. Ingram picked up second on the three-meter board with a 239.25, while third went Obst with a performance of 236.65.
TCNJ's team return to action on January 25 hosting William Paterson University in a 2:00 p.m. NJAC match. Prior to the meet, the Lions will honor their 2009 seniors in conjunction with Senior Day.
