Lions dominate WPU in NJAC women's swimming

Ewing, NJ…The College of New Jersey's women's swimming and diving team hosted William Paterson University in an NJAC dual meet on Sunday afternoon. The Lions would collect a pair of wins, while two Lion divers recorded NCAA provisional performance on the day. TCNJ's men's team stands at 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the NJAC, while WPU's men drops to 8-2 overall and 0-2 in the NJAC. TCNJ's women's team improves to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the league, while WPU falls to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the league.

The Lion women recorded a 173-116 win on Sunday in the Lions' final home meet of the season. TCNJ's freshman diver Emily Ingram (Eastampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) posted an NCAA provisional score with her win on the three meter board as she won the event with a score of 279.60. She took second on the one meter board with her performance of 216.90. TCNJ's sophomore Amanda Obst (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May Regional) won the one meter competition with her score of 224.85 and took second on the three meter board with a score of 228.85.

Rookie Traci Hofer (Millville, NJ/Millville) was a triple medal winner as she won the 100 backstroke in 1:01.64, the 200 backstroke in 2:17.61, and the 100 butterfly in 1:00.74.

Sophomore Margaret Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) as she captured the 500 freestyle race in 5:12.63 and the 200 butterfly in 2:12.93 for the Lions.

Junior tri-captain Brittany Collyer (Forked River, NJ/Lacey Township) took first in the 1,000 freestyle race with her time of 11:20.16 and was part of the Lions' second place 200 medley relay team. Combining for the second place finish was senior Stefanie Rashti (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West), Collyer, senior Sara Casciano (Hewitt, NJ/Immaculate Heart Academy), and senior Stacy Delehanty (Oceanport, NJ/Shore Regional) as they posted a time of 2:00.09.

Casciano won the 100 breaststroke race with her time of 1:13.48, while Rashti took a second in the 100 freestyle event with her performance of 57.69.

TCNJ would win the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:45.21 as sophomore Kristen Prentice (Skillman, NJ/Montgomery), freshman Melissa Hessler (Palmyra, NJ/Palmyra), junior Ashley Robb (Blackwood, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), and Molloy combined.

Sophomore Danielle Dilts (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) won the 200 freestyle race with a time of 2:01.36, while sophomore Katie Morgan (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) won the 200 individual medley in 2:19.50. Junior Julianne Clapp (Allentown, PA/Parkland) won the 200 breaststroke race in 2:39.64.

Freshman Laura Pierce (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) finished in second in the 200 butterfly race in 2:16.13, while sophomore Melissa Wallace (Metuchen, NJ/Metuchen) took a second in the 50 freestyle race with a time of 26.03.
