Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey women's swim team swept every event to win their second consecutive conference meet, opening the 2009 season with a pair of dominating victories. The Lions (2-0, 2-0) coasted past the Roadrunners 188-61 as they head into their tomorrow with Stevens Institute of Technology.
Sophomores
Traci Hofer (Millville, NJ/Millville) and
Laura Pierce (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) were triple winners, each contributing to a pair of team relay victories as well as an individual event. Hofer placed first in the 200-yard back stroke (2:16.95) and contributed to the 200-yard medley relay (1:54.54), and 200-yard freestyle relay (1:40.45). Pierce was also a part of the medley and freestyle relay winners, and took first in the 50-yard free (24.85).
Junior
Danielle Dilts (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) won two individual races claiming the 1000-yard free (11:09.97) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:29.92).
Margaret Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) also registered a pair of firsts in the 200-yard free and 100-yard butterfly. Molloy downed the field with a time of 1:57.93 in the free and finished in 1:00.49 in the fly.
The women's team is back in action tomorrow (Sunday), November as they visit Stevens Institute of Technology at 11 a.m.
