Lions fall to Wheaton, 5-3

Chandler, AZ –The College of New Jersey's baseball team dropped a 5-3 decision to Wheaton College on Monday. TCNJ is now 2-3 on the year, while Wheaton College is 2-1.

TCNJ's senior short stop Jeff Toth (Parlin, NJ/Sayreville) paced the Lions after going 3-4 with a pair of RBI's and a homerun in the eighth inning to pull the Lions within two runs, down 5-3, but it was not enough as the team could not push any more runs across the plate in their last at bats. Senior Vince Mazzaccaro (Gloucester, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) added a 2-4 effort with an RBI as well for the Lions.

On the mound for the Lions, senior Dan Ramos-Dominko (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) started and threw for 7.2 innings in taking his first loss of the year. He gave up four earned runs but fanned six batters. Senior Eric Gertie (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) closed the game out for TCNJ working 1.1 innings with a pair of strikeouts.

TCNJ will face Wheaton College again on Tuesday in the Russ Matt Greater Phoenix Invitational. Game time will be at 1:30 p.m. (PST), 4:30 p.m. Eastern.
