Glassboro, NJ (May 2, 2009) - The College of New Jersey men's and women's teams each won the 2009 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday. The conference meet was held at Rowan University.
The TCNJ women's team captured its 17th consecutive NJAC title collecting 278 team points and its 26th in the 27-year history of the event. The TCNJ men's team won its 12th straight conference championship and 13th overall as the Lions posted 237 points.

Thomas M. Gerrity Award for Most Outstanding Male Athlete:
Frank Iwanicki , Rutgers-Camden (jr., Edgewater Park, NJ/Holy Cross) – won 800 meters (1:53.82) and was on the second place 4x400 meter relay (3:24.83)
Outstanding Male Track Athlete:
Tony Williams, Montclair State (sr. Newark, NJ/Shabazz) – won 100 meters (10.89) and finished fourth in 200 meters (22.50) and 4x400 meter relay (3:27.05)
Outstanding Male Field Athlete:
Craig Van Leeuwen, Ramapo (fr. Little Falls, NJ/Randolph) – won pole vault (meet-record 4.80m) and captured fifth on the 4x100 meter relay (43.95)
Co-Rookie Male Athlete:
Mark Lisa (fr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) and Chris Medina, TCNJ (fr. Lakewood, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) – Lisa: won long jump (NCAA provisional 7.01m); Medina: finished second in 100 meters (11.05) and on the 4x100 meter relay (42.22), took fifth in the 200 meters (22.61) and came in seventh in the long jump (6.07m)

Thomas M. Gerrity Award for Most Outstanding Female Athlete:
Kristen Tricocci (sr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) – won long jump (5.36m) and 4x100 meter relay (NCAA provisional 48.21), finished second in the 200 meters (26.44) and high jump (1.52m)
Outstanding Female Track Athlete:
Stephanie Herrick, TCNJ (sr. Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) – won 800 meters (2:17.14) and 1500 meters (4:40.73)
Outstanding Female Field Athlete:
Monique Riddick, Montclair State (so. Edison, NJ/Bishop Ahr) – won shot put (meet-record 14.87m), captured third in the discus (35.03m) and took sixth in the hammer throw (38.15m)
Rookie Female Athlete
Deseria Saunders, New Jersey City (fr. Lakewood, NJ/Long Branch) – won the 200 meters (25.96), came in second in the long jump (5.30m), placed fourth on the 4x100 meter relay (51.23) and took seventh in the 400 meters (1:02.59)
