Women's swimming suffers first setback to C.W. Post

Greenville, NY .. The College of New Jersey women's swimming team suffered their first setback of the season dropping a 137-122 loss at the hands of C.W. Post. The Lions battled but fell short to the host Pioneers.

Junior Margaret Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) put forth a valiant effort winning two individual events. She captured the 1000-yard freestyle event posting a time of 11:20.49. Juniors Kristen Prentice (Skillman, NJ/Montgomery) and Danielle Morrone (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) also placed second and third in the 1000-yard free. Molloy later won the 500-yard free winning that race in 5:15.78.

Freshman Kristyn Wikoff (Shrewsbury, NJ/Red Bank Regional) also won an individual event placing first in the 200-yard backstroke finishing in 2:15.03.

The relay team of senior Ashley Robb (Blackwood, NJ/Gloucester Catholic), freshman Kayleigh Shangle (Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park), sophomore Traci Hofer (Millville, NJ/Millville), and sophomore Laura Pierce (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) continued their dominance in the 200-yard freestyle relay winning the race in 1:39.27. Pierce and Robb also took second and third place in the 50-yard free. Hofer posted her top time this season in the 200-free placing second with a time of 200.098

The Lions will take to the starting blocks next Saturday, January 23 at New York University. The meet is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
