Women's swimming back to winning ways

New York, NY … The College of New Jersey women's swim team bounced back from their lone defeat of the season coasting past New York University 161-137.

Junior Margaret Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) continued her exceptional season winning three individual events and contributing to the 400-yard freestyle relay win to lead the Lions (6-1) to victory. Molloy won the 100-yard freestyle event (54.61), the 200-free (1:56.9), and the 500-free (5:10.00).

Freshman Kayleigh Shangle (Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park) also won four events, copping a pair of individuals and both relay events. Shangle posted a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.06) and the 200-yard breat in 2:27.56. Sophomore Laura Pierce (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) matched her classmate winning the 100-yard butterfly (59.03) and 50-free (24.59). Pierce also swam to firsts in the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay.

Senior Christina Falcone (Newtown, PA/Notre Dame) won the 200-fly (2:13.36) and freshman Kristyn Wikoff (Shrewsbury, NJ/Red Bank Regional) placed first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.45). Junior Danielle Dilts (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North), sophomore Traci Hofer (Millvile, NJ/Millville), junior Danielle Morrone (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley), and junior Katie Morgan (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) also helped put the Lions back on track.

The women's swim team is back in the water tomorrow as they take the blocks against New Jersey Athletic Conference opponent William Paterson University at 1 p.m.
