Women's swimming earns 3-peat with victory over Rowan

Glassboro, NJ … The College of New Jersey women's swimming and diving team won its eighth straight meet and third consecutive New Jersey Athletic Conference title as they defeated Rowan University 179-117.

Senior Margaret Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) had a spectacular performance in her final conference meet winning a pair of individual events and contributing to the 400-freestyle relay win. Molloy took first in the 1000-free (10:44.57) and 100-butterfly (1:00.37). She joined freshman Ashley Conroy (Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan), sophomore Caroline Kelly (Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence), and junior Laura Pierce (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) in finishing first in the 400-free relay with a time of 3:43.03.

Pierce won the 200-fly in 2:09.56, Conroy placed first in the 100-back posting 1:00.78, and Kelly placed second (2:02.30) behind sophomore Jenny Zavoda (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick), who cruised to a first-place finish in the 200-yard free posting a time of 1:58.15.

Sophomore Kayleigh Shangle also had a big day winning the 100-breast registering a time of 1:08.87 along with the 100-free with a time of 56.32. Junior Traci Hofer (Millville, NJ/Millville) won the 50-free in 25.09 while Katie Morgan won the 200 breaststroke in 2:26.83.

On the diving board, Sabrina Lucchesi (Columbus, NJ/Notre Dame) claimed a pair of first-place finishes posting scores of 277.58 in the 1-meter and 295.05 in the 3-meter event.

The Lions take on 9th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology tomorrow at 2 p.m. TCNJ's Aquatic Center.
