Lawrence, NJ... The College of New Jersey women's indoor track and field team competed in its annual dual meet against nearby Rider University as the Lions pulled out an 89-75 win on Sunday at Lawrenceville Prep.
Seniors
Miriam Khan (Titusville, NJ/Hopewell Valley) and
Sarah Wehrhan (Dodge City, KS/The Peddie School) each had banner meets for the Lions as they each won a pair of individual events.
Khan did so in record fashion as she set a new school mark in the 200 meters with a winning time of 25.13 seconds. She also took top honors in the 55-meter dash in a swift time of 7.25 seconds. Her time in the 55-dash met NCAA provisional standards, while the time in the 200 meters qualified her for the ECAC Championships.
Wehrhan picked up two ECAC qualifying marks as she took first in the 20-pound weight throw and the shot put. She won the weight throw with a distance of 14.95 meters and the shot with a heave of 12.06 meters.
Freshman
Brigit Roemer (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) picked up a first in the triple jump with an ECAC worthy distance of 11.43 meters as she broke her own school record and also won the high jump at 1.60 meters. Freshman
Katie Lindacher (Egg Harbor Twp., NJ/Egg Harbor Twp.) won the 55-meter high hurdles with an ECAC mark of 8.81 seconds.
The Lions added another win in the 3,000 meters as sophomore
Cathy Goncalves (Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) outdistanced herself from the field with a top time of 10:43.36. That time also met ECAC standards.
TCNJ added another top effort in the pole vault as freshman
Emily Kulcyk (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) cleared the bar at 2.45 meters.
The Lions also gained valuable team points winning the 4x400 relay. Running in the event were senior
Alexandra Tomaselli (Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley), Khan, Kulcyk, and senior
Meryl Wimberley (Farmingdale, NJ/Colts Neck) as they had a winning time of 4:01.44, which met ECAC standards.
