College Brown event
Bethlehem, PA … The College of New Jersey women's cross country team competed in the 38
th annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.
The women's team placed 15
th overall out of 44 teams in the College Brown race in the event. Junior
Cathy Goncalves (Clark, NJ/Athur L. Johnson) followed up her conference Runner of the Week honors with a 54
th-place finish out of 385 runners. She posted a time of 23:19 in the 6k event.
The top five finishers counted towards the team's total score (435) and sophomore
Megan Flynn (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) was the next TCNJ runner to finish, placing 69
th with a time of 23:33. Senior
Alyssa Bannon (Spotswood, NJ/Bishop Ahr) snuck in the top 100 crossing the finishing line 99
th with a time of 23:57.
Sophomore
Anginelle Alabanza (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) and junior
Rachel Morris (Marlboro, NJ/Marlboro) rounded out the Lions participants who scored. Alabanza was 103
rd overall finishing in 23:58 and Morris crossed the line 24:02, placing 110
th.
Freshman
Regina Neumeyer of Iona College posted the winning time of 21:47. Iona won the College Brown event.
The Paul Short Run presented by Brooks takes center stage on the Goodman Campus Course. More than 5,000 runners from 450 colleges and high schools competed in races throughout the morning and afternoon.
The next competition for the Lions is the Connecticut College Invitational. The event is scheduled for October 15 in New London, CT.
