Meet results
Wayne, NJ ... The College of New Jersey women's swimming and diving took one step closer to its fourth straight New Jersey Athletic Conference title as they defeated William Paterson University 195-92 on Saturday.
The victory sets up a showdown with Rowan University next Saturday that will decide the conference championship. The Profs are also unbeaten in NJAC dual meets.
The Lions (6-2) won every event and were led by seniors
Traci Hofer (Milville,NJ/Milville) and
Amanda Waldner (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) as both veterans posted three first-place finishes in the meet. Hofer won the 100-yard backstroke with a finish of 1:03.32 and Waldner took the top prize in the 200-freestyle event (2:07.52). Hofer and Waldner also raced in the 200-medley and 200-freestyle winning relay teams.
Seniors
Danielle Morrone (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) and
Kelsey Herchenrider (Cape May, NJ/Cape May Regional) each notched a pair of first-place finishes. Morrone touched the wall first in the 100-butterfly event (1:01.46) and Herchenrider coasted to victory in the 100-breaststroke (1:12.47). Both seniors also raced on winning relay teams.
In the 200-fly, sophomore
Amy Schurer (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) was the fastest competitor with a finish of 2:22.90 and junior
Kaitlin Kilgannon (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) won the 100-free in 58.90.
Sophomore
Sabrina Lucchesi (Columbus, NJ/Notre Dame) claimed top prize in both the 1- and 3-meter diving events. She posted a score of 286.65 in the 1-meter and 301.35 off the 3-meter board.
The Lions return home on Saturday, January 28 to battle Rowan University at 1 p.m. in TCNJ Aquatic Center.
