TCNJ cruises past NYU 182-106

Samantha Parlow took top honors in the 200-IM.

Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey women's swimmingand diving team cruised to its third victory in as many dual meets as they defeated New York University 182-106.
 
The Lions (3-0) won ten individual swimming events and senior Danica Roskos (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley) claimed both diving events as TCNJ dominated the waters in their aquatic center. Junior Ashley Conroy (Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) enjoyed a big day winning the 200-freestyle, 50-free, and 200-backstroke events to lead the Lions. Senior Kayleigh Shangle (Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park) captured the 200- and 100-yard breaststroke, while also contributing to a first place finish in the 400-free relay.
 
Conroy won the 200-free in 1:57.77. She returned to post the winning time of 25.01in the 50-free, while Michelle Sanders (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) finished runner-up with a time of 25.79. Conroy also reached back to touch the wall first in the 200-back with a time of 2:10.36.
 
The duo of Shangle and sophomore Nicole Muha (Dunnellen, NJ/Dunnellen) finished one-two in the 200- and 100-breast. Shangle registered winning times of 2:26.09 and 1:06.64. Muha followed with times of 2:32.31 and 1:09.67.
 
Senior Samantha Parlow (Brick, NJ/Monsignor Donovan) showcased her versatility in the 200-individual medley by winning the race in 2:14.96. Freshman Eilish Devine (Oradell, NJ/River Dell) displayed her endurance in the 1000-yard free, winning the event in 10:51.15.
 
TCNJ boasted the top three finishers in the 200-butterfly. Sophomore Brennah Ross (Paoli, PA/Cyber Charter School) took top honors with a time of 2:11.11. Junior Amy Schurer (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) placed second by finishing in 2:23.35 and senior Stephanie Silleck (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) followed with a time of 2:29.25.
 
While the swimmers were besting their opponents, Roskos was besting herself. She shattered her own school record in the 3-meter event with a score of 345.35. Roskos also won the 1-meter with a score of 312.20. Junior Sabrina Lucchesi (Columbus, NJ/Notre Dame) took second place in the 3-meter at 288.80 and third in the 1-meter with a total of 269.50. 

The Lions take a week of before hosting their invitational meet that begins Friday evening on November 30 in TCNJ's Aquatic Center
