Lawrenceville, NJ...The College of New Jersey women's indoor track and field team saw its two-year winning streak over nearby Rider University come to an end as the Broncs won the annual dual meet with the Lions on Saturday y the score of 92-72.
TCNJ swept both scoring positions in the pole vault as
Jackie Chester (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley) was first with a height of 3.25 meters, which was an ECAC cut, and
Brigit Milorey (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) was second at 2.80. Chester's height was also a new school record.
In the high jump, the Lions again took the top two spots as
Katheryn Karovic (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park) had a winning jump of 1.53 meters, followed by sophomore
Katie Knight (Ocean, NJ/Ocean City) in second at 1.48 meters.
Sophomore
Erica Roberts (Newark, NJ/Science Park) had a huge win for the Lions in the long jump as she went 5.44 meters with that distance easily eclipsing ECAC standards.
TCNJ claimed top honors in the 4x800 as Johnson
Liz Johnson Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley),
Megan Stack (Hellertown, NJ/Saucon Valley),
Anginelle Alabanza (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick), and
Katie Nestor (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands) teamed up for a winning time of 9:34.14.
The Lions had a host of athletes place second in their respective events meeting ECAC qualifying marks in the process. Roberts sailed a distance of 11.01 meters in the triple, Knight finished the 55-meter hurdles in 8.77 seconds, ran the mile in 5:09.59, while freshman
Katelyn Ary (Closter, NJ/NV Demerst) completed the 400 in 1:00.29.
The list of ECAC qualifiers continued as Johnson was second in the 1,000 meters with a mark of 3:02.31
Freshman
Michelle Cascio (Washington, NJ/Westwood Regional) also had an ECAC cut in the meet finishing third in the 200 meters in 26.80 seconds. She also was second in the 55-dash in 7.56 seconds.
