New York, NY … The College of New Jersey women's swimming and diving team suffered its first defeat of the season, falling 195-84 to fifth-ranked New York University on Saturday afternoon.
Junior
Brennah Ross (Paoli, PA/PA Cyber Charter School), senior
Amy Schurer (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown), and junior
Carlyn Hubert (Ringoes, NJ/Hunterdon Central) swept the 200-yard individual medley event. Ross won the race outright with a time of 2:14.71. Schurer placed second in 2:20.75 followed by Hubert in 2:39.20.
Senior
Nina Sabatini (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) and sophomore
Sarah Richards (Doyelstown, Pa/Central Bucks East) placed first and second in the 100-yard butterfly event. Sabatini won the event in 1:05.13, while Richards placed runner-up in 1:05.56.

Lauren Rothstein (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview), Hailey Growney (Rockaway, NJ/Morris Hills), junior
Summer Thomas (North Plainfield, NJ/Metuchen), and senior
Michelle Sanders (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) took top honors in the 400-freestyle relay. The won the event by posting a time of 3:49.72.
Growney placed second in the 100- and 200-backstroke. She finished runner-up in the 100 with a time of 1:02.35 and the 200 in 2:13.50.
The Lions (3-1) face another tough opponent next weekend when they visit eighth-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology next Saturday, November 23 at 1 p.m.
