Galloway, NJ … The College of New Jersey men's basketball teams suffered a 65-46 loss to Richard Stockton College in New Jersey Athletic Conference play on Tuesday night in Galloway, NJ.
The Lions will look to tomorrow to crack the win column as they fell to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the NJAC. The Ospreys remain atop the league standings after finishing second in the NJAC last season, improving to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
Sophomore
Bobby Brackett (Lawrence, NJ/Lawrence) led TCNJ with a double-double, netting 12 points and securing 13 rebounds. Junior
Jason Chalmers (Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) finished one rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. He also had two blocked shots.
For Richard Stockton, junior forward
Josh Blamon led all scorers with 16 points, while senior guard
Rameel Johnson added 12 points, six assists, and five steals. Senior forward
Nnamdi Usuwa contributed eight points and eight rebounds in the win.
The Ospreys took command of the game in the first half, building a 41-22 lead at the intermission. Brackett knocked down his first three-pointer of the season to make it a 6-6 game, but Richard Stockton responded with a 20-2 run that made it an uphill battle for the Lions by the midpoint of the opening half.
The marked difference in the opening 20 minutes was not just the Ospreys shooting the ball well from the field (16-of-32), but points off turnovers. Stockton held an 11-4 advantage in turnover margin, but outscored the Lions 18-2 in points off miscues.
TCNJ battled to gain ground after the break, but shots would not fall. They struggled from long distance (4-of-20) and converted just over 32 percent of their shots from the floor.
Freshman
Eric Klacik (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge), who received NJAC Rookie of the Week honors on Monday, led the Lions with four assists. Junior
Jayson Johnson (Bordentown, NJ/Life Center Academy) finished with six points as 10 different TCNJ players tallied points on the night.

TCNJ returns home tomorrow (Wednesday) to host Bridgewater College at in Packer Hall at 1 p.m. The Eagles are currently 1-1.
