New York, NY… The College of New Jersey men's  indoor track and field team had a banner day at the New York University Challenge Meet on Friday recording a pair of top finishes.

The event at the 168th Armory was actually a non-team scoring event despite the name.

The Lions had a pair of first-place finishes in the event with the one coming in a relay and the other in an individual event. Junior Julio Alorro (Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) won the pole vault sailing over the bar at an ECAC Championship qualifying height of 4.55 meters.

The distance medley relay team not only won their event, they recorded one of the faster times in all of Division III this season with a clocking of 10:15.99. That time also met ECAC standards. Junior Dominic Tasco (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), senior Steve D'Aiutolo (Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson), and sophomore Erik Moutenot (Mahwah, NJ/Mahwah), and senior Michael Berti (Brick Memorial) all did their part in helping the Lions cross the finish line first.

TCNJ also had success in the 4x800 as the team of Berti, junior James Seyffart (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield), sophomore Jeremy Garrell (Morristown, NJ/Morristown), and Andy Gallagher (Newfoundland, NJ/West Milford) combined for a time of 8:03.36 to place second.

Junior Walter Ingram (Kings Park, NY/Kings Park) placed third in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:35.67, while junior Michael Spekhardt (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) was seventh in the much shorter 200 meters (22.73).

Sophomore James O'Connor (Marmora, NJ/Ocean City) added a top-10 finish in the high jump, clearing 1.85 meters to place sixth.
