New York, NY… The College of New Jersey women's indoor track and field team turned in a number of championship qualifying performances as the Lions participated in the New York University Challenge Meet on Friday.
The event at the 168
th Armory was actually a non-team scoring event despite the name.
TCNJ had a number of ECAC qualifying performances highlighted by the second-place finish of senior
Mary Chismar (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex) in the shot put. She finished with an ECAC worthy distance of 11.93 meters.
The Lions had two individuals place seventh in their respective events and still boast ECAC cuts. Junior
Katie Knight (Ocean, NJ/Ocean Township) ran a time of 9.41 seconds in the 60-meter high hurdles, while junior
Tara Nealon (Howell, NJ/Howell) finished the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:33.25.
Junior
Brigit Roemer (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) tied for sixth in the high jump with a height of 1.60 meters, which also qualified her for the ECAC Championships. Sophomore
Katelyn Ary (Closeter, NJ/Northern Valley Demarest) was another ECAC qualifier, running a time of 2:18.92 in the 800.
Freshman
Kristen VanBenschoten (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) added a top-five performance in the shot put placing fourth with a throw of 11.31 meters.
