Meet results

Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey women's swimming and diving team dropped a 194-98 decision to New York University on Saturday afternoon in TCNJ's Aquatic Center.

With their roster impacted by illness and injury, the Lions (2-2) did their best to hold off a strong and deep Violet squad. Several TCNJ freshmen did a solid job in the waters as NYU improved to 6-0 on the season with the victory.

The 400-freestyle relay team comprised of senior Summer Thomas (North Plainfield, NJ/Metuchen), freshman Ali Huber (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfied), freshman Emily Rothstein (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview) and junior Lauren Rothstein (Mullica Hill, NJ / Clearview) posted top honors with a finish of 3:43.99.

Thomas also won the 200-free, touching the wall first in an exciting finish in 1:57.62. She also earned runner-up honors in the 500-free, completing the distance race in 5:19.84. Thomas was just two seconds behind the event winner, Lexie Faunce.

The Lions swept the top four spots in the 100-butterfly event. Freshman Debbie Meskin (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional), junior Noelle DeLusant (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest), freshman Tatiana Greiner (Rutherford, NJ/Allentown) and freshman Kirstyn Shibla (Manasquan, NJ/Wall) placed one through four. Meskin posted the winning time in 1:05.42.

In the following event, freshman Jill Galindo (Millstone, NJ/Rutherford), DeLusant and rookie Madeleine Clements (Haddon Heights, NJ/Bishop Eustace) took the top three spots. Galindo won the 200-individual medley with a time of 2:25.44. DeLusant was next to finish in 2:29.47 and Clements placed third with a time of 2:31.74.

Lauren Rothstein secured a third-place finish in the 100-free with a time of 55.44. Diver Edith Duggan (Aberdeen, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) compiled 238.85 points to take third place in the 3-meter dive competition.

TCNJ will host their annual, three-day invitational from Friday, December 5 through Sunday, December 7.
