Hoboken, NJ … The College of New Jersey women's swimming team dropped a 146-116 decision to 16th-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday afternoon in Hoboken, NJ.

The Lions (3-2) received an outstanding effort from junior
Brenna Strollo (Long Branch, NJ/Biotechnology) in the meet. Strollo won the 100- and 200-backstroke, and also contributed to the first and second-place finishes in the 200-medley and 400-free relay events.

The Lions started the meet strong, topping the Ducks by less than a second in the opening 200-medley relay. Strollo

Marta Lawler (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East), and seniors
Sarah Richards (Doylestown, Pa/Central Bucks East) and
Lauren Rothstein (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview) combined to post a winning time of 1:53.68.

Strollo returned to the lanes to win the 100-backstroke event in 1:00.26. Sophomore
Jill Galindo (Washington Twp., NJ/Allentown) placed third in the race with a time of 1:03.65. The duo also went one and three in the 200-back with times of 2:08.12 and 2:16.27.

Ali Huber (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) and
Emily Rothstein (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview) placed one-two in the sprint free. Huber posted the fastest time in 25.67 and Rothstein was close behind in 26.15. Huber also finished runner-up in the 100-butterfly in 1:03.40.

Lawler continued her strong performance by topping the field in the 100-breaststroke in 1:11.37 and finishing second in the 200-breast in 2:31.67.

The Lions are right back in action this Saturday when they host New Jersey Athletic Conference foe Rowan University at 2 p.m. in the aquatic center.
