Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey women's swimming and diving team suffered a 223-71 loss to New York University on Saturday afternoon in the TCNJ Aquatic Center.

The eighth-ranked Violets improved to 3-0 on the season, while the Lions fell to 2-2.

Sophomore
Gabi Denicola (Oradell, NJ/River Dell Regional), junior
Marta Lawler (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East), and junior
Debbie Meskin (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional) highlighted the afternoon for TCNJ when they swept the 500-freestyle event. Denicola posted the winning time in 5:29.66 and was followed by Lawler in 5:40.10 and Meskin at 5:45.32.

Meskin also posted a pair of third-place finishes. She finished second runner-up in the 200-butterfly with a time of 2:17.35 and touched the wall third in the 200-individual medley in 2:20.66.

In the 200-backstroke, senior
Brenna Strollo (Long Branch, NJ/Biotechnology) put forth a strong showing with a second-place finish. She reached back to finish in 1:02.16. Juniors
Ali Huber (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) and
Cassidy Bergeron (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery) placed second and third in the 100-fly. Huber registered a time of 1:03.30 and Bergeron was right behind in 1:03.87.

Junior
Jill Galindo (Millstone Twp., NJ/Allentown) suited up 200-back. She completed the race in 2:17.38 and earned a third-place finish.

In the 1-meter diving event (6 dives), junior
Hannah Raymond (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) placed second with a score of 296.33. Teammate
Sarah Grassi (Oaklyn, NJ/Camden Catholic) took third with a final score of 288.75.

TCNJ will have a week off from competition before hosting the TCNJ Invitational from Friday, December 2
nd through Sunday, December 4
th.
