By Julie Kayzerman '16Meet ResultsEwing, NJ ... The College of New Jersey's women's track and field team brought a high level of competition to the annual meet against the Division I Rider University Broncs, despite losing, 100-64 in Lawrenceville on Friday night.
Sophomore
Danielle Celestin (Whippany Park, NJ / Whippany Park) dominated the 200 meter event, crossing in first at 27.09, a full 1.89 seconds ahead of the second place Broncs.
The 800 meter race was highlighted by the impressive run of freshman Kathleen Jaegar (Whitehouse Station, NJ / Hunterdon Central), who took first place at 2:21.72.
Freshman
Erin Holzbaur (Robbinsville, NJ / Robbinsville) made the most of her TCNJ/Rider debut in the 3000 meter event, clocking in a first place time of 10:23.31.
The college's 4x400 meter relay of senior
Joy Spriggs (Dayton, NJ / South Brunswick), sophomore
Emily Mead (Sparta, NJ / Sparta), Jaegar and senior
Kristen Randolph (Rockaway, NJ / Morris Knolls) hit a triumphant mark, defeating the Broncs with an ECAC qualifying time of 4:03.22.
While the Broncs took first place in the 400 meter race, the Lion pack stayed together with Spriggs, Mead and freshman
Alesia Passaro (Westwood, NJ / Westwood) crossing the finish line in second, third and fourth respectively.
Next up, the Lions hit the road for the Valentine Invitational in Boston, MA on Friday, Feb. 12-13.
