Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey women's swimming and diving team dug deep to capture a 147-137 victory over Stevens Institute of Technology on Friday night.

The Lions were short a few swimmers due to health reasons, but battled from start to finish to even their season record at 3-3.

Freshman
Annie Menninger (Plainsboro, NJ/West Windsor-South) played an integral role in the win, topping the field in the 1000-freestyle (11:10.06) and 50-breaststroke (32.80). She also placed third in the 100-breast, one spot behind teammate
Marta Lawler (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East), who placed second in 1:10.49.

Trailing early in the meet, sophomore
Hailey Thayer (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) produced a big first-place finish in 50-backstroke to spark the Lions. She reached back to touch the wall in 29.44. Two events later, TCNJ swept the field in the 50-free. Sophomore
Maddie Hynoski (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterdon), freshman
Kazia Moore (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan), and junior
Emily Rothstein (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview) dashed to the top three finishes in 25.64, 26.04, and 26.22.

Junior
Ali Huber (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) won the 100-free in 56.51 and senior
Brenna Strollo (Long Branch, NJ/Biotechnology) delivered a blue ribbon in the 100-back in 1:01.96.

Late in the meet, the Lions secured critical points by finishing second through fourth. Hynoski, junior
Cassidy Bergeron (Belle Mead, NJ/Montgomery), and Strollo tallied up nine points.

Major points also came from the diving duo of
Sarah Grassi (Oaklyn, NJ/Camden Catholic) and junior
Hannah Raymond (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.). Grassi placed first in both 1- and 3-meter events, while Raymond finished second in the 1-meter.

TCNJ returns to Packer Hall for its final regular season meet next Saturday, February 4
th when they host William Paterson University at 2 p.m.
