EWING, N.J. - The No. 15 TCNJ men's swim team wrapped up its three-meet home stand in fine fashion with a 163-88 NJAC victory over Ramapo on Saturday.
For the third consecutive meet,
James McChesney was a multiple-time individual winner with a relay to boot for the Lions (3-0, 2-0), who easily remained unbeaten despite a host of swimmers competing in events for the first time or the first time in years.
McChesney grabbed first in the 50 free with a time of 21.90. Teammate
Dixon Kahler was close behind with a time of 22.05. McChesney, who also finished first in the 200 back (2:00.49) and the 200 IM (2:00.32), has finished first in every event he has entered on the young season.
The 100 free was neck-and-neck between Kahler and Ramapo's Joshua Templeton, but the Lions junior beat out Templeton with a time of 48.39.
Andrew Thompson (1:57.65),
Ryan Higgins (2:01.78), and
Conrad Hoody (2:01.99) took the top three spots in the 200 fly.
The 200 medley relay was won by the lion's team A consisting of
Andrew Thompson, Ryan Vandeveen,
Jack Marble, and McChesney with a time of 1:37.35. The 200 free relay was also won by TCNJ, their team consisting of Thompson, Kahler,
Kai Zola, and
Matt Watts with a time of 1:26.60.
The 200 free was tight, but
Lukas Blach took first with a time of 1:46.61, with
Matt Watts in second at 1:48.26.
Jonah Herring won individual races -the 100 fly with a time of 54.27 and the 1000 free with a time of 10:20.87.
Ryan Higgins and
Ryan Heerema both secured first place in their respective races as well. Heerema finished the 100 back with a time of 54.29, while Higgins completed the 500 free in 4:52.23.
Michael Wu won the 3-meter diving for the event with a score of 127.35.
The men's team is traveling next weekend to take on a fellow nationally ranked program in NYU.
