GALLOWAY, N.J. –
The TCNJ men's track and field team opened the season with a distance showcase race on Saturday morning. The meet doubled as the NJAC Cross Country Championship. The Lions fought all the way to the line, securing a one-point victory over Stockton. The win is the 25th for the program in the last 27 seasons.

"The meet was a good way for our distance runners to shake the rust off from not competing in a year," said head coach Justin Lindsey. "We're taking it week-to-week and this was a step in the right direction to get us ready for the upcoming meets."

After the meet, Lindsey was named NJAC co-Coach of the Year.

Chase Miller led the way for the Lions with a third-place overall finish in the 8K race, crossing the line at 25:58.8. Miller was the top rookie finisher in the race by nearly a full minute. Miller earned NJAC Rookie of the Year honors after the meet.

The Lions followed with a large pack that scored low enough to bring home the team title. Jack Ennis, Kevin Christensen, Michael Bond, John Raisley, Ben Fanta, and Andrew Chamberlain finished fifth through tenth. Chamberlain out-kicked a runner from Stockton to finish just two seconds ahead of the Osprey and secure the team victory.

Miller, Ennis, Christensen, and Bond were named to the All-NJAC First Team. Raisley, Fanta, and Chamberlain earned Second-Team All-NJAC honors.

The Lions return to action at the Stockton Invite on Friday.
